Own one of America's most celebrated coins: a 1924 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, struck in .900 fine gold at the Philadelphia Mint.
Designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt, the Double Eagle is widely regarded as the most beautiful U.S. coin ever made. The obverse shows Lady Liberty striding forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, the sun rising behind her, the U.S. Capitol at her feet, and "LIBERTY" above, ringed by 46 stars, with the date 1924 at lower right. The reverse shows a majestic eagle in flight above a radiant rising sun, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "TWENTY DOLLARS" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
As a Philadelphia issue, this coin carries no mint mark. This example shows bright, lustrous gold with strong detail throughout. Please review the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
